Brockley

Within a conservation area a contemporary extension was built to the rear of a substantial Victorian semi detached house. An enlarged kitchen and dining area looks out to the mature garden to the rear.

A frameless glass rooflight separates the extension from the existing house to allow light to penetrate deep into the house, the frameless glass also helps define a boundary between what is old and new.

Cedar timber cladding to the rear elevation was used to conceal a pocket sliding door, the timber was repeated as a motif to the interior ceiling. The flat roof was not forgotten and decked with cedar to ensure that views from above looked good.
